I NEED more maps and the ability to change multiple lights at once, instead of one by one. I'm addicted to this game, best 2 dollar purchase I've ever made!

Thank you! More maps are coming very soon. I haven't added a way to change multiple lights yet but in the new update there are lots of improvements that should make modifying traffic lights a lot quicker.

Long-term I'll try to think of a good way to edit multiple lights at once.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly,  I'm genuinely super excited to see what's in store for future versions of this game.

If it weren't for Real Civil Engineer on YouTube, then I might have never known this game existed, but so glad I've found you, cause this game is very satisficing to play.  ;3

Hi, Wanted to know when the mac version will be out?

A mac version will come along side the new update that I'm trying my hardest to get out this week.

Thank you !!

Came from RCE videos. This game looks great! Unfortunately don’t have a windows pc atm so can’t play yet, but have bought the game to help support you and the development of it! Looking forward to see what you do!

Same here

Will there be a level building mode where you can build a level and let others play it?

Yes but that will come closer to full release. Approximtely 3 months from now.

Game has crashed on me twice. Both times when starting the simulation but on different levels

If you could post a screenshot of the road layouts that caused the crash that would be very helpful

Yes, I took a photo so I could recreate it although not had a chance yet

Thank you I'll try to get that fixed asap.

(-1)

also please add regular european/american car movement - not only that british nonsense

I am going to hold a poll on whether or not to do this. Lots of people have told me they don't mind the level layouts being based on driving on the left. But there of course must be people like yourself who do mind.

The only reason I'm hesitant to make left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive variants of every level is that it would result in two separate leaderboards for each level. I can imagine it would be quite annoying opening up a learderboard to see what score your friend got on a level only to see they have a score for a different level.

Deleted 1 year ago

Yeah that's what I meant :P but I still think it's not ideal. Say I play squareaboutLEFT and i pop open the leaderboard and see my mate Hans only has a score for squareaboutRIGHT.

Or an American is playing the game and all of a sudden gets the urge to see how he measures up to RCE's scores, only to realise RCE's scores won't be comparable to their own American scores.

(In case it isn't obvious, it's near impossible to get left-hand and right-hand level variants to behave the same way and give the same scores)

It's not possible to add a preference that just mirrors the display left-to-right on the UI layer without actually modifying the representation on the application layer?

(-2)

buggy, crashes, doesn't worth 2 USD

(-2)

when will it be free? my mom wont give me money

Great game. Liking it so far. A global leaderboard to future updates would be appreciated

Leaderboards will come with the steam release in around a month (if you have the game on itch you will get the steam release for free also)

Peter griffin, family guy

Great game! On Giga, when you create roads like bellow it crush.

Pic 1 - so not even tried :(

Pic 2 - 2nd layout was working. Beated

Thanks for the report I’ll get it fixed

Great games I don't regret my purchase, now it would be cool to add a sandbox mode, and a free mode without being prevented from starting traffic because of bad intersections

Sandbox mode is definitely planned and will make its way into the game at some point. I’ll have a think about the free mode

Thank you for your feedback 👍🏻

RCEs first video brought me here, very fun game, looking forward to some in game leader boards in the future. If you want some high scores to try and beat in the mean time join the discord, plenty of high scores on there to have a go at

Could you please put this on Steam for 10 Bucks or so and then continue to develop it? Would be a shame if it stays at 5 levels forever and 2$ isnt a price you should be offering :)

(1 edit)

It has great potential, but in the current state 2$ is a fair price. If you think it should be more you can always buy it again or pay a higher price on itchio. Steam might give more exposure but has also the risk of people abandoning the game or giving bad reviews due to its unfinished state

Should be on steam in around a month. Also i have said repeatedly that I am actively developing the game so obviously it will have more levels

Great! Im continuing to play it :)

(1 edit) (+1)

RCE played so poorly it made me rage and STILL beat dev scores (no offense), so painful to watch I bought the game to show everyone how to really play.

Replies w/ screenshots incoming(FYI this setup's light intervals are still not even close to max efficiency)

How'd you get 6600? I keep getting 6100 with the same exact setup

There's unfortunately a bit of simulation difference between peoples systems. I'm trying hard to solve this (or at the very least reduce it) but it's a very difficult problem to fix.

(1 edit)

Here is a cleaner version that gives you another 100 points, thanks to the longer left lanes. edit: the topmost light is unnecessary

Some points in traffic lights settings found

I managed this with the left light being 2 on, 2 off.. And so on, and the right one being 2 off, 2 on.. And so on! Since the cars are on a fixed seed it seems like one could do some weird things to optimize their score

The arrow system confused me quite a lot, I had no idea what that quadrouple button did until I saw your screenshot! That'll make life a bit easier ahah

The traffic lights near the bottom do seem to contribute some score, I run into traffic jams without pulling the lights slightly further back. It's fascinating how well you can do by selectively removing traffic lights and just letting the cars bump into one another

(1 edit)

This did really well, the left lane was basically like a copy of the bottom lane in terms of traffic flow! Left light is on, off, on, off.. Right light is off, on, off, on..

(+1)

Right side need more green than left.

(1 edit)

can agree, right needs more green then the other two lanes.

(+1)

can this be added to steam?

(+3)

In around a month it will be coming to steam

(+2)

my lord what a great game

Thank you :)

Is there a way to play not in full screen? Great game by the way

Thank you!

There is an in-built shortcut Alt+Enter which will window it. The window cannot however be resized.

I'll try to add that functionality asap.

(1 edit) (+3)

make the Mac version soon. it will make me very happy.

-Peter griffin, family guy

(+1)

also asking for that. Especially Apple Silicone version please.

(+2)

Yes Peter

Bought the game a few days ago after watching RCE video, worth my money.

Altho a very good game, theres alot of things to add, which the community was already sharing in the comments.

Besides these little details that will be fixed in upcoming updates, solid game that i can recommend

Keep up the good work, king!

Thank you! And yes, still lots of things to add, that's why it it's early access ;)

Please add an undo/redo option and save the layout of a level even if it is closed. Otherwise one missclick destroys a lot of work which is annoying for larger levels.

(1 edit)

Saving/loading levels will be in the upcoming update. Undo/redo will be probably be in the update after that.

Could you change the lights such that they are all red by default? It would make it a lot easier to test various things (just slap down a traffic light and hit start, knowing that no cars will be coming from that direction, so you can see how the rest of the network interacts with each other and so on), since you often have fewer green ticks than you do red, it also reduces the number of mouse clicks you have to make before a light is done

Will do! It'll function that way in the next update

Could you also make it so that you can drag over multiple segments to turn them red/green depending on the state of the first? Right now there is a lot of clicking involved.

Yup it will be in the game within the next couple of updates.

(1 edit) (+2)

Waiting for the mac version!

(4 edits)

Purple cars in the north to west right turn lane are running the red light which causes this solution to fail. They do not run the light after I removed the south to west left turn lane light.

The bug is also phase dependent, so shifting all the lights forward in time by the same amount solved it.

Seems to be these signals somehow interfering with each other

I think I’ve got this fixed in the upcoming update, thanks for the report though!

how do i play it i bought it but i dont know how to play it

(1 edit) (+2)

There's a tutorial (I realise it needs work). You could also try watching RCE’s video on YouTube to get a feel for the game. Also you could hop on the discord and ask your questions there.

(+1)

The game has a problem with multi-lane intersections and anything besides straight roads meeting with some lights in the middle is not really possible at the moment due to bugs, meaning you can't try out those juicier intersection designs. I also think the entry and exit arrows should be two tiles further back, as you can't place arrows immediately following each other, rendering the outer two tiles of the map mostly unusable.

Anyway it was two bucks and I had a good time for an hour or so so that's nice.

The new update coming in the next couple of days should solve the majority of the pathfinding bugs. I'm also a little surprised you seem to be encountering them so frequently? I've only seen reports of them occuring in very complex layouts, is your experience different?

With the two tile thing I'm generally deliberately restricting the players options of where they can place roads (Similar to when I have trees or houses blocking parts of the grid). I will try to chop off any sections of the grid that is completely unusable moving forward though.

Glad you had fun ;)

(+1)

When opening a level, the camera scrolls to the top left corner like there were left and up arrow keys pressed except they are not. I tried rebooting the computer, disconnecting the keyboard, also disconnected the 3D mouse I usually have connected to my computer. It still does the thing same every time.

I don't know what could be causing this. The camera can only be moved by the arrow keys, or my holding middle mouse button and dragging.

I'm guessing it has to be something to do with your 3d mouse, can you try disconnecting it and plugging in a normal mouse?

(Happy to give you a refund if you'd rather not fiddle with things/wait for a fix)

Had the exact same problem, I had a steering wheel plugged into the computer so I think the game is pulling a joypad x-axis or something similar rather than just the arrow keys. Fixed it by unplugging the wheel :)

Thanks for the info!

(+1)

I was already using only a normal mouse yesterday because the 3D mouse was my first suspect. Now I got the problem resolved by also shutting down the 3D mouse software that was still running in the background.

I think you should look into this and figure out if the game takes any commands from the possible game controller in addition to the arrow keys and middle mouse button as the problem appeared with a steering wheel too.

Thank you for the details, I’ll try to get it fixed soon

(1 edit)

Edit: sorry, page refreshed and I put this on the wrong comment

Don't know if you’ve found it yet, but I encountered this bug also and it seemed to be when going to the level select menu after solving the level, and not continuing to the next level, but I couldn't test it fully as I already had 3 stars.

The level doesn't need to be redone though, you just go back to the main menu then then back to level select and it shows your stars.

(+1)

Anyone got this working on Linux?

(-15)

can you make this maybe for free?

(+3)

Why would they do this?

(-5)

more plays and download

(+4)

It's literally $2, the price of a soda. You can afford it.

(+6)

Waiting for the Mac version :)

(+1)

Check back in a weeks time and it should be up ;)

(-1)

2 bucks XD

Any chance in making this Android tablet compatible?

(+2)

Unlikely. Current plan is pc/Mac/Linux(later). Then maybe porting it to iOS later. I’d only consider android if the iOS port was wildly successful.

Sorry to disappoint.

(+2)

I really love it so far!

My only notes would be to allow copy-pasting the stoplights, but other than that im really enjoying it so far.

Thank you! And will be added in the next update (some time this coming week)

(+2)(-27)

make it free and web and maybe my 1.2m yt channel will review it and advertise it

(+12)

Right.

So you want to create content using the game and are unwilling to pay 2 bucks for it?

Are you seriously too cheap for two bucks?

(+3)

Surely pinkpenguin2020 has 1.2 million subscribers but is too cheap to purchase a game for 2$, totally believable story.

(+2)(-1)

If you are going to make a shitty comment then at least know what you are saying. Real Civil Engineer, a channel with 1.8mil subscribers, made a video 2 days before you made this comment. And don't you think literally anyone with internet connection can't afford a $2 game? Let alone a YouTuber?

(-3)

i spend all money on fidget toys

(+2)

I got this game earlier today and I'm already addicted!!! Amazing game.

Two things:

1. Pls make it so you can speed up the simulation! whenever I make small tweaks it is annoying to sit through the whole simulation when I just want to find out the score.

2. When erasing roads, instead of having to individually click on each road, please make it so one can hold down RMB and it will erase any roads the cursor hovers over

I have not found a game as fun as this one in a long time, good job!! 😉

Thanks a load I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

1. It’s already in the game as an experimental feature, press 1,2 or 3 to speed the simulation by that amount (obviously only works while the simulation is running)

2. Planned and will be in the next update

Thanks for your response! One more thing, that I realize would be a huge change for the game, would be adding yield signs. I think that it would add a whole new challenge to the game, and maybe be introduced in later levels (if some sort of level progression system was implemented), but I do think it would be very fun!

I have a feeling yield signs would be very overpowered, but I’ll have a think about it.

I’m very intrigued by the levelling idea, it never occurred to me. What would you gain by leveling up?

Well I was thinking more about a campaign style, where you could only later play levels once you get at least one star on the level before that, or you could have a system where you would need a total of say like 5 stars on the first 3 levels to gain access to the fourth, or maybe when you get later in the game you unlock more cool traffic signs/resources (like the yield sign if you were to implement that, or just QoL tools)?

Great game. I just got 3 stars on all the levels. I noticed there is a bug though that when you get 3 stars on a level it doesn't always save. I then have to go and redo the level if I want it to register the stars. It does save the correct high score.

I thought a nice idea for the trafic lights would be to have them be red by default. Usually when you place a trafic light you only want it to be on for a few blips so this is just less clicking.

It would also be nice if you can pause or slow down the simulation so you can better understand what is happening.

In the beginning I had some difficulties understanding the details of how the signs worked. Even after a few hours I sometimes get confused why a car can't make it's journey. If you could see the incomplete paths of cars that can't reach their destination when overing over the symbol that could clear things up.

I understand implementing all this stuff takes alot of time so I don't want to put pressure on you.

It's a really fun game and very well made :)

(+1)

Thanks a lot :)

I’ll investigate that bug and try to get it fixed ASAP.

I think you’re on to something with having traffic lights default to red, it does make more sense that way. I’ll test it and add it if it’s doesnt have any unintended consequences.

Slowing the sim makes sense I’ll try to add it soon. (You can already speed up the sim by pressing 1,2 and 3 if you didn’t already know)

Making it easier for players to debug car paths is high on my priority list but it’s quite a hard problem to solve. I’m working on quite a few things which will hopefully improve things.

I also got the no stars bug except on one level where I only got one, so maybe it's related to the three stars result. Good work.

(+1)

Thanks I’ll try to hunt it down

Don't know if you’ve found it yet, but I encountered this bug also and it seemed to be when going to the level select menu after solving the level, and not continuing to the next level, but I couldn't test it fully as I already had 3 stars.

The level doesn't need to be redone though, you just go back to the main menu then then back to level select and it shows your stars.

By the way, The bug could be easily fixed by just going into the level and exiting

the game looks amazing, will it be available on mac?

I’m hopeful I’ll be able to get a Mac build out for the next update (around a week from now)

(+2)(-10)

please make free i love it but can't afford

Are there also gonna be other payment options i dont have paypal and would still love to buy it and play it

Stripe should be up and running now, apologies for the delay

(+2)

I'm not on discord so I will leave a comment here. First off, RCE sent me. Cool game, digging it so far, thanks for making it!

I have a couple suggestions for future versions. 1) Allow us to turn off all sounds, not just music. 2) Allow us to play in windowed mode. 3) Not sure how to fix this, but clicking each tick in the signal light wheel gets tedious after having 8 signals on the map. Maybe allow us to hold mouse button down and drag to select what is on or off, then single click to fine tune?

Thanks again!
E

(+2)

Thanks for the kind words :)

1.) Will do.

2.) Will do.

3.) I'm planning on adding a copy function for traffic light pattern and I'll try to come up with something that makes it less tedious.

I should be able to get all of these in the game in the next update.

(+1)

I literally just came back here after thinking about the copy function myself. That would be great, thanks!

A couple more I thought of..

4) Save the state of the map in whatever shape we left it in before we exited the game. That way I don't have to start from scratch when I come back. I just realized this after I came back to the game to find what I set on a particular level was gone.

5) Each map also should have 3 difficulty levels, and each one has more traffic than the last. I feel the amount of traffic being used in the current maps would be considered "expert" level. Maybe each level is a different time of day, which would vary the traffic load. Easy would be evening or overnight. Medium would be around noon, and expert level would be rush hour traffic in the early evening. This would give us more reasons to play the same maps over and over.

6) Leaderboards?

7) When a map fails, I would like some sort of notification as to why. I can only assume I let the lines of cars go off the map for too long, but it would be nice to know what I did wrong so I could correct it later.

8) Minor gripe, but when a car makes a turn, it's almost 90 degrees. On the "cross" map I tried to have two opposite turn lanes go at the same time (each going left), but they kept driving straight into each other because they were trying to go more 90 degrees than a 45 degree angle you would expect when turning.

Thanks again!!

(1 edit) (+3)

4.) Working on that right now, should be in the next update.

5.) This would be easy to do on my end but I think it would complicate things a bit too much (for example when online leaderboards are added you'd have 3 separate leaderboards). I think currently there aren't enough easy and medium difficulty levels to make the difficulty curve nice and smooth. I also think I need to redesign a couple of levels to make them less awkward.

6.) This will come with the steam version in 1-2 months.

7.) I'll try to think of a way to communicate this better.

8.) This is just how the game has to work due to the grid nature of the roads unfortunately.

Thanks for the feedback, always appreciated!

(+2)

No worries, thanks again!

(+1)

In addition to copying signals, maybe some basic functions like inverting or “rotating” them would be useful for coordinating multiple signals.

Yep someone on the discord suggested shift-clockwise/shift-anticlockwise which seems like a good idea. I'm in the process of prototyping out the changes and seeing which fit
